Artst Anne-Lise Jarvis Hansen and Art historian Lise-Lotte Blom in front of Lotte Kjoellers pictures, Filosofgangen, Odense, Denmark.

kunsthistoriker, mag.art.

”Lotte Kjøllers malerier tager næsten altid udgangspunkt i menneskelige relationer.

Flere skulpturer, bl.a.

Lotte Kjøller tager altid udgangspunkt i menneskelige relationer.

I was born in 1966 in Koege, a village in Denmark. I live and work not far from the center of Copenhagen.

My name is Lotte Kjøller and I am a visual artist. I was born in 1966 in Køge, Denmark. I live and work in Copenhagen.
I create art in acrylic on canvas and as a painter I am known for putting several canvases together in one image and painting all sorts of "crooked" formats in between. I also work with collage, watercolor, drawing, lithography, poetry, photo, illustration and sculpture. In addition, I teach, am a curator, and give lectures.

In 2020 I Invent a mixed form between photo and painting I call "painting with photo" and become photographer Barry Pringle's apprentice. My career is now taking a turn where photography is also included. Signs from now on with a small photo in the lower right corner of the painting. My creative urge is great and I am curious and creative in many areas.

In 2021, I invent web art which is a kind of art performed on the internet created for the web. The art form is a virtual performance that gathers spectators sitting in front of the computer where they participate and at the same time a piece of art that can be followed online.

My main purpose is that my pictures tell a story !!! But I leave the interpretation and experience open to the viewer. I always leave it up to the one who sees to form his own story. So I try to keep the interpretation open. As you can see, I always paint in series. Series as well may be a little different in their expression, but common to them is that they always deal with people. The human spirit, mind and body have aroused my interest and been my motive all my life.

Cooperation with Art Historian Lise-Lotte Blom

I work closely together with the art historian Lise-Lotte Blom from Kunstavisen Art-newspaper. She has been following me since I was about 30 years old. She is writing a book about me Lotte Kjøller and my art. She is a nimble lady of over 80 years so we must hope that the book has time to get ready. Therefore, I will leave the word here on the page to Lise-Lotte Blom as she has written it about me:

art historian, mag.art. Lise-Lotte Blom, who wrote this about my art in Kunstavisen Art-newspaper, 2008:

“Lotte Kjøller's paintings are almost always based on human relationships. Specifically, one or two people are often seen in one situation or another. Some situations take place in nature, some in an enclosed interior. Music, play and dream sequences are depicted in several of the artist's paintings.

In 2008, the artist made a series of paintings that have been given the common name "Change". Here understood as both transformation and change, ie. man's ability to change (transform) through life. This is depicted through the motif as well as through the color. The color scheme is exuberant and expressive. Gold and silver are sometimes used as a glittering emphasis on movement in a direct and / or figurative sense.

Lotte Kjøller's sculptures, created between 1995 and 2008, are all, as is the case with the paintings, modeled on living models. The material here is stone reins with chamotte. Subsequently, the sculptures are burned, and occasionally glazed several times with glaze according to the artist's own recipe. Several sculptures, i.a. "The ponderer" in burnt clay with chamotte, 47 x 21 x 17 cm, expresses a marked sensuality combined with contemplation. "

Winter pictures of Lotte Kjøller are shown in Odense

Lotte Kjøller exhibits a number of exciting works under the theme "Winter pictures" until 7 November in Odense. Lotte Kjøller, born 1966, as always, is based on human relationships. This is about focusing on topics she herself associates with specific events in the winter, such as the winter solstice, Christmas and snow. But also more abstract topics such as darkness and light, faith, travel, play and eroticism occupy her a lot.

Effervescent colors and often dreamlike scenery dominate

Lotte Kjøller works in the pictures The Shepherds, Snowball and Solhverv with dreamlike scenes in lyrical colors. While other images like Cycle, Cross, Awake and Tropenat are dark, compressed and smolder with dramatic glow. There are expectations and humor in several of the pictures, for example Venter, Butterfly, Cross and Løwen can be highlighted.

North Sea / Sensual word pictures

The picture Vesterhavet / Sensual word pictures is a painting from Lotte Kjøller's series Livløber, painted over a collection of poems of the same name. The painting is a self-portrait of the artist as a young man. A self-portrait as well as a poem are included in the picture. The work is supplemented by a copy of the book Sensual Word Pictures, an illustrated collection of poems by several artists, each of whom has contributed one or more erotic poems with accompanying illustrations. Lotte Kjøller's poems and pictorial poems have the titles: Wave and Again. The front page of the book is painted and signed by Lotte Kjøller. The cover in question is made as a collage in acrylic and lacquer ... etc.

Lotte Kjøller, who was born in 1966 in Køge, was educated by the visual artist Jeff Ibbo 1992-95, followed by several study stays abroad, among others. in Paris at the Ecole Des Beaux Artes in 1997. She works with painting and sculpture and has exhibited at home and abroad, among others. She has been at a number of censored exhibitions from 1995 KE and KS several times.

The near life and the existential are taken as a starting point Lotte Kjøller is always based on human relationships. It can be with herself as a starting point. That is, recollections from childhood or early adolescence. These may be references to people she has met in the specific landscape of her childhood (the North Sea or Nykobing Sjealland). It can also be a dream landscape where people are placed who mean a lot to her. She thus has a male muse that is often seen in her pictures. Present and past are linked in the same picture. Word pictures occur. Music, play and dream sequences are seen - and the works are always done with a rich texture in the exuberant expressive and often bold color combinations.

Lotte Kjøller's motif world In recent years, Lotte Kjøller has, among other things. the work with Christian motifs, etc. the theme Effatha. About this she says herself: Effatha means: "Open up", and is a word Jesus uses to heal a blind man. And we all need to shut ourselves up. For each other and for God so that we can see clearly again. Jesus draws our attention here to the fact that by opening our eyes and looking with God, our lives change and we see in a completely different way - through him. With reference to this, Christian symbols are often seen in her images, cf. for example the image God's Lamb from 2010. Here a lamb (Jesus) is seen together with a number of suggested figures in a cosmic space. The image, which is 100 x 100 cm, is made of acrylic and gold leaf on canvas. The sacred element is emphasized by the gold plating.

As mentioned, she is based on the lived life. This is done by placing herself in her own painting universe (the artist is often seen naked with a paintbrush in hand) and / or photos of the artist herself in different situations. This can be combined with examples of important people in her life, eg a man (her ex-husband) is often seen playing a guitar. Elements that exemplify that her works are honest and pertinent. She manages to make it specific to something general.

RECOMMENDATION FOR THE Visual ARTIST LOTTE KJØLLER 2017 Of Lise-Lotte Blom, ART HISTORian, MAG.ART. FYN Iceland EDITOR AT KUNSTAVISEN Art-Newspaper

I have followed Lotte Kjøller, a visual artist for a number of years, especially intensely in recent years from 2008 onwards. She is an absolutely serious working visual artist who is constantly working to further develop her talent. As will be seen from my numerous texts and reviews, which Lotte Kjøller herself submits, I have great respect for her talent. She has most recently been a curator and even participated in the extensive exhibition: The Naked Man. An exhibition that included ten living visual artists, and which was presented beautifully and gifted at the exhibition venue SAK in Svendborg in the spring of 2017 by Lotte Kjøller. I would like for Lotte Kjøller that she be awarded a scholarship that enables a further development of her already long education and significant talent.

I would be happy to provide further comments if desired.

Yours sincerely Lise-Lotte Blom, art historian, mag.art.
